WEEDMAT & FROST CLOTHWhy use Weedmat ? Weed control fabric facilitates better garden and plant management. Irrigation and liquid fertilisation through weedmat optimises growing conditions. Our 100% Polypropolene Hydro-Phobic Fibre Weedmat is easy to cut and will not fray on the edges. Weedmat can be cut to the size required easily with scissors or a knife. We have 2 different colours available, dark brown (75gm) for under bark and a heavier grade light grey (100gm) for pebbles etc. Installation: Prepare the area to be covered by removing weeds and grass. This can be done by weeding or spraying, but to ensure complete success, all weeds such as oxalis, kikuyu, couch and other types must be thoroughly removed. Cut the weedmat to fit the size required and lay over prepared ground, if plants are to be planted through the fabric, cut a cross slit large enough for the plant roots and place plant in prepared hole, backfill and pin edges of weedmat back using weedmat pins. Once the area is covered, lay landscaping materials such as mulch, bark, pebbles, chip or other suitable mediums to completely cover the weedmat (recommended minimum depth of bark is 100mm and 50-75mm for other products). Plastic Weed Mat Pins are 120mm in length with ribbed shaft to prevent the pin from twisting in the ground giving a greater holding power. To calculate number of pins required multiply the length of area in metres + 1 metre x width of area in metres + 1 metre, eg. (5m+1m) x (4m+1m)=30 pins.
